I JUST remembered a great book on time travel. It's Paul J. Nahin's, TIME MACHINES, American Institute of Physics, NY, 1993. I own it and it was a pleasure to read. Nahin is a Professor of Electrical Engineering with a deep knowledge of physics. Equally important for Upsallafandom, he is an SF fan! The book has as much SF in it as it has physics. Since 93 only a few details have been added to our knowledge, so the book is well worth reading. Even more so if one, like me, loves those corny drawings from old SF magazines. Its physics appendices are marvelous and describe what we know in readable formulae. The notes and references are marvelous. The book's a treasure-chest.

More Inperiumspeak, sorry. I have been interested in the philosophy and physics of time and time travel, since I wrote my PhD dissertation on the direction of time, in 1971. I will do my best to read the relevant parts of the blog, think about it, and reply. Right now I'll simply say that the writer does not consider at least two other methods for time-travel that are now under scrutiny by physicists and philosophers. Neither---and both have variants---enploy the parallel worlds scenarios used by Deutsch. So I HOPE I have time to look at this blog. What I have seen so far is not only interesting, but is just what I wish there was more of in SF circles.
